We were not the first people to live under law. We were the first to write sovereignty into it — not for the great only, but for each man, however small. The letter of that writing still stands. The intent has been overwritten. Restoration is the return of the intent, and it begins in the one place no statute can reach: the mind that still answers to itself.

A mind is not sovereign if the man who carries it is divided. Attention spent paying the tax of inner noise is not free. Energies at war with one another are not sovereign. The sovereign mind lives in a coherent man — the Type I human we were built to become and were long forbidden to name. He is not inherited. He is not conferred. He is forged in the one faculty that still answers to our own hand: language, and through it, the mind itself.
